Jon’s Own Words

“Hi my name is Jon and I will be graduating from the Stein Recreation Program.  I learned a lot while in the Recreation Program.  I learned to ride a bike, how to play appropriately with my peers (share, take turns).  I also learned about being safe in the community.  How to cross streets safely and most importantly I’ve gained a good understanding of stranger awareness.  I used to be overly friendly with everyone, and now I know I can’t just approach people and talk to them.   

The Stein Recreation Program taught me how to communicate better with people.  How to share my feelings with words and not with actions.  How to be kind to others and express my feelings and concerns.  

I will be leaving the Recreation Program with life long skills.  Now I can remain at home for short periods of time by myself.  I own a cell phone and have learned what to do in case there is an emergency.  The Stein Recreation Program has changed my life and made me a much better person. “
