SAFIR I ON TRACK I CHANGES I KIDCO I PARENTING SKILLS I B4
Our purpose is to provide early intervention, prevention and educational support for children, youth and families experiencing interpersonal relationship issues interfering with school, home and community.
The community programs provided by Vista Hill are often provided free of charge or for a nominal fee and offer a positive connection to the community we serve. Children, adolescents and family members are able to focus on specific problems that cause roadblocks to success and the development of healthy and supportive relationships. Some of the program topics include communication skills, the effects of divorce on children, single parenting, alcohol and drug abuse prevention, anger management, discipline, and self-esteem building. Programs are funded through a number of resources: fund raising, grants, school district funding, fees and donations by the participants.

Current Vista Hill’s Community Service Programs include:
S.A.F.I.R. (Supporting Adolescents and Families in Recovery), an ongoing family support group that deals with issues of substance abuse and recovery. S.A.F.I.R. is a “family participation” model. Our approach to recovery brings the entire family together to work on solutions. Learn More
ON TRACK, an educational 6-week program for teens and parents. Teens are taught skills for handling stress, friendships, school and other issues. Parents learn communication skills that strengthen the parent/child relationship. Finding new alternatives means finding a new way of life where law breaking behavior is no longer a necessary part of it.
CHANGES, a program that helps pre-teens and families decrease feelings of anger and encourage social problem solving. Working on relationships with others at work, home and in the community is a focal point of this program.
KIDCO, Chula Vista 's primary intervention program addresses the needs of those students who are at mild-to-moderate risk with school adjustment difficulties. Learn More
PARENTING SKILLS, an ongoing series of parent education/support groups addressing the tough issues of child rearing, from infancy through adolescence. Court referrals are welcome and a participation certificate is given.
B4, an early mental health intervention program in ten state pre-schools in Chula Vista for children 3.5 to 5 years of age. The program gives ongoing intervention and prevention with the goal of improving a child’s preschool, day care, social and family functioning to enhance long-term outcomes for healthy development.
Eligibility – These services are voluntary and require personal motivation to participate appropriately. Clients may self refer, or enter at the recommendation of their local school, law enforcement or the court system.
