Vista Hill Outcomes Data Highlights
ParentCare Family Recovery Center 100% of adult clients completing the program either had a job or were in a job training program. At admission, 30% held a regular job. All clients completing their outpatient treatment are drug free at discharge. At admission, 47% had used drugs in the past 30 days. Premature dropout due to relapse however remains a treatment concern. (Alcohol and Drug Questionnaire) No babies of ParentCare mothers were born with drugs in their system. Since 1999, 97% of babies born to ParentCare mothers are toxin-free at birth, according to medical records. Quality of life increased by 24% as measured by a standardized test that assesses a variety of life areas such as family and work. (Quality of Life Index) Overall, parenting clients reported significantly decreased parenting stress and reported significantly better relationships with their children after program involvement. (Parenting Stress Inventory) Clients demonstrate increased knowledge of reproductive health after program educational efforts. (Post test)
Therapeutic Learning Center (childcare at ParentCare) Pre-school age children tend to increase in social competence. Children tend to decrease problem behaviors On average children improved from the 45 th percentile in ‘social competence' to the 55 th percentile after only six months in the program. These gains are maintained for at least two years if children stay in the program. ( Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation - SCBE )
Learning Assistance Center (school based mental health treatment) Students involved in mental health treatment show improve attendance at school. (District student records) Standardized test scores that measure school, behavioral, mood, and other problem areas improved by an average of 29% after three months of program participation. ( CAFAS - Child and Adolescent Functional Assessment Scale ) Problem behaviors decreased and positive behaviors increased as evaluated by direct teacher observation. For students with GPAs below 3.0 prior to program entry, participation in the program for one year resulted in an average increase GPA of .24. (District student records)
B4 (preschool age school-based mental health intervention) Children demonstrated statistically significant gains after 3 months in the program in General Adaptation (12%), Social Competence (17%), Emotional (6%) and Behavioral (10%) Functioning. ( Social Competence and Behavior Evaluation - SCBE )
Support for Adolescents & Families in Recovery – SAFIR On average, teens showed a significant increase in self-esteem after six (6) months of attendance. Emotions and expressions of anger show improvement among participants. SAFIR parents report lower parenting stress and a better relationship with their child after program participation.
On Track (teen and parent behavioral classes) Teens showed a significant average increase in self-esteem of 24 %. participating teens show improvement in emotions and expressions of anger. On Track parents report lower parenting stress and a better relationship with their teen after program participation.
Excel (school based mental health counseling) Students show improvement in work habits and social skills according to school progress reports. Students also show increases in self-esteem on standardized assessments. Stein Education Centers—Special Education Programs Students improved or met their individual academic goals 95% of the time. (Annual Individual Education Program review) Students improved or met behavioral goals 94% of the time. On average, 3 of every 4 students who were discharged, successfully transitioned to a less restrictive level of care. 99% of all program satisfaction ratings by parents were “good” or “excellent.”

Stein Education Centers—Recreation Program On average students met or exceeded Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals 85% of the time. 97% of all program satisfaction ratings by parents were “good” or “excellent.” Comments by parents of children included: “The Rec program has been a very good experience for our child. We have seen a positive change in our child since starting Rec. We thank you for that!” “Outstanding, dedicated, sympathetic staff that cannot be thanked enough.” “You are all awesome!!!” “ Very satisfied with this program year after year!”
Stein Education Centers—Adult Services Programs Despite significant obstacles to participation (e.g., transportation, cognitive impairment), participation rates were nearly 90%. 99% of all program satisfaction ratings were “good” or “excellent” during the last half of 2005. Comments included: “Great job everyone!” “Stein has been a great help to my son. The staff at Stein is wonderful. Thanks again.” “I'm very satisfied with this program. God bless all of you.” “Very, very happy! Thanks!” “Can't really think of how it could be better than it already is.”
